Having seen lots of Port Philip and Hobson Bay in Melbourne it was high time to check out the ocean. A couple of co-workers and myself decided to head to Ocean Grove, which is ~1 hour south of Melbourne. The temperatures down that way were a chilly 7C, not bad for winter, but far off from making a trip to the "beach" enjoyable. The temperature didn't stop hoards of surfers though, braving the wind and waves from the south to get some surfing in. No go on my part though, a dry suit would be required to get some winter water activities in.
I'm thankful it's winter in Australia, I left Austin in July, when it was already over 100 degrees every day, and it seems that trend has continued right up to this week.
We also visited the coastal town of Torquay, I have a feeling this place is going to be stunning when summer rolls around. Right now it's just a sleepy winter surfing village.....
