So no, we're not doing the composting in our backyard or growing all our veggies and herbs or driving an electric vehicle but we did manage to walk to the mall with Meyli in her stroller, did some shopping using our own reusable bags, and even unboxed a big item so we could carry it ourselves. Then walked home.
Not a big deal you say? No probably not but a 10 minute walk to a mall without driving the car was a new thing for us. Although it probably helped curb some spending knowing you can't easily lug it all back home.
About a year and a half later and we're getting more use to the Australian way of walking everywhere. And with a butcher and bakery about an 8 minute walk away, I might finally work my way to buying everything fresh all the time without freezing stuff for future consumption.
But with cold weather season coming we'll see how long this lasts....
